Home: Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Dodger, an American bulldog mix currently available through the Save One Soul Animal Rescue League of Wakefield, Rhode Island.
Sweet Dodger was hit by a car while he was running in traffic as a stray in Texas in October, according to a bio. Thankfully, this adorable 56-lb. boy only sustained a mild shoulder fracture and road rash, and healed with crate rest.
The rescue’s trainer Melissa Kroll is currently fostering Dodger and thanks to structure and a daily routine, he is quickly morphing into a highly adoptable companion.
“Dodger is one of those once in a lifetime dogs,” says Kroll. “He’s a total meathead! Always ready to play sports or workout. But don’t be fooled! He enjoys thoughtful discussions on climate change, foreign films and what he would get if he won the lottery. (In case you are wondering, a personal belly rub servant is on the top of that list!)”

The pup has recovered from his injury and has no activity restrictions — in fact, consistent exercise and stimulation are going to be very important in his new home.
“Dodger’s perfect home would be an active adult household that is interested in developing his athletic abilities in weight pulling, obedience, agility, hunting or farm work,” says his bio. “He would also enjoy being outside and provided a variety of activities including walking, jogging, chasing balls and advanced obedience.”
“There is a sweet, loving, brilliant dog underneath all that muscle and bravado and he just needs someone to be the love of his life!” Kroll adds.
