Here is an Important Detail You Missed on Selena Gomez’s Instagram

Days after Selena Gomez teased a new music with several mysterious Instagram posts, the singer’s catchy new song “Bad Liar” dropped on Wednesday night.

Among the photos Gomez shared on social media in promotion of the single, was one of her lying down makeup-free on a bed holding onto what seems like a white bandage. The singer also wears a yellow medical wristband that has the word “RISK” on it. Although many fans assumed it was associated with suicide—being that SelGo is an executive producer for the breakout Netflix series 13 Reasons Why— the photographer Petra Collins spoke out to shut down all the theories.

“Selena came straight from the hospital to this shoot — from being there for lupus,” Petra commented on Instagram.

These yellow bands are given by doctors to patients who are at risk of falling, which is a danger for those with lupus who are prone to fainting.

“Yellow is a warning to slow down, pay attention, and take special precautions. Nurses review patients all the time to determine if they need extra attention to prevent a fall,” notes an American Hospital Association document reported by Glamour. “Sometimes a person may become weakened during an illness or because of surgery. When a patient has this colored alert wristband, it says that this person needs to be assisted when walking or transferring to help prevent a fall.”

The singer has been very open about her lupus diagnosis, whether it’s talking about needing time off or advocating for lupus research.

“I know I am not alone by sharing this,” Gomez told PEOPLE exclusively in a statement last year. “I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
