Salma Hayek Says She Has the Ability to ‘Experience Someone Else’s Pain’

Salma Hayek has a secret talent — and it’s a little scary.

The actress — who stars in Beatriz at Dinner, out Friday — tells PEOPLE Now that she has an extraordinary ability when it comes to relating to other people, just like her character in the film.

“I do have the ability to sometimes experience someone else’s pain,” she reveals in the clip. “Maybe not exactly the same, but it does affect me.”

But when host Jeremy Parsons asks her if she’s ever felt it before, the actress gave a slightly ominous answer. “Oh yeah, but I’m not gonna tell you,” she says.

Hayek also admitted that being able to feel someone’s pain in that way “affects a little bit how you see the world and it definitely creates a higher sense of empathy.”

Hopefully, her ability also extends to feeling someone’s joy, as the actress was recently delighted to hear that her good pal George Clooney had become a father of twins! She told PEOPLE at the New York premiere of the movie that she knows Amal Clooney‘s family and knows they won’t need any help raising Ella and Alexander.

“I have no advice because his wife is Lebanese like me and I know his mother-in-law and his sister-in-law and I know those kids cannot be in better hands,” Hayek told PEOPLE Tuesday night after the twins were born.

Hayek and the two-time Sexiest Man Alive starred together in the 1996 thriller From Dusk Till Dawn.
