Megyn Kelly Slammed by Parents of Victims for Having Sandy Hook Hoaxer Alex Jones on Her Show

Megyn Kelly is facing backlash for an upcoming interview with conspiracy theorist and Infowars host Alex Jones, who has previously stated the 2012 school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, was a hoax.

Kelly tweeted a clip from the Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly interview over the weekend, teasing the sit-down, which is set to air June 18.

In the clip, Kelly asked Jones to discuss his highly controversial theories about the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, which left 20 first-graders and six adults dead.

“Well Sandy Hook is complex because I’ve had debates where devil’s advocates have said the whole story is true and then I’ve had debates where I’ve said that none of it’s true,” said Jones.

Kelly accused Jones of dodging the question and making up excuses for his statements.

In a 2014 snippet from Jones’ show, he responded to a listener’s question about authorities planting “flimsy evidence” at the site of the shooting.

Said Jones at the time, “Sandy Hook is a synthetic, completely fake with actors, in my view, manufactured . I couldn’t believe it at first. I knew they had actors there, clearly, but I thought they killed some real kids. And it just shows how bold they are, that they clearly used actors.”

Kelly defended her decision to host Jones in a tweet, pointing out that President Donald Trump has praised Jones in the past and has given Infowars a White House press credential, and that it was her job as a journalist to “shine a light” on Jones.

Some of the parents of the young victims have assailed Kelly for speaking with Jones, with Nelba Márquez-Greene – whose daughter Ana was killed – writing on Twitter to the host, “I never imagined losing a child to gun violence and being involved in something like this. By making this choice, you grieve our hearts and the memory of our child. You have a powerful platform. I encourage you to ‘shine light’ on affirming the losses suffered here – NOT on a person who mocks those losses.”

Among the many others to slam Kelly for featuring Jones on her show was former first daughter Chelsea Clinton.

“There is no justification for amplifying lies (or a liar), particularly about unimaginable tragedy,” she wrote. “I hope no parent, no person watches this.”

The Dec. 14, 2012 shootings were carried out by 20-year-old Adam Lanza. Families of the victims – like Erica Lafferty, the daughter of slain Sandy Hook principal Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung – have previously come forward to condemn Jones for his commentary.
