WATCH: Pet Resort Throws Epic Pool Party for 8 Shelter Dogs

Summer 2017 could be the best yet for eight shelter dogs from Phoenix, Arizona.

Rogue, Greyson, Bean, Henry, Loki, Ozzie, Benito and Polo — canines in the care of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control — all got invites to an epic pool party at the Second Home Pet Resort on Monday, and, just like a senior at Beach Week, they made every last minute count.

None of them seemed to mind the chaperones (one volunteer for each dog!) that accompanied them to the summer soiree at the swanky water park, designed just for dogs, that was obviously a welcome change from day-to-day shelter life.

The sprawling park — featuring a pool just 18 inches deep — has water-side decks and a waterfall, all any canine needs to achieve ultimate relaxation.

But, as you can see here, relaxation wasn’t exactly at the top of their list. With temperatures in the 100s this time of year in Phoenix, cooling down was definitely on the agenda, along with playing chase, socializing and the sharing of pool safety tips by staff.

“We are grateful to Second Home Pet Resort in Phoenix for giving our dogs a chance to escape the extreme heat,” Melissa Gable, communications supervisor for the shelter, told PEOPLE in an email. “Not only did the pool time keep the dogs cool, it also provided socialization and enrichment away from the shelter environment.”

If you’re interested in providing an endless summer for anyone in this canine crew, visit the shelter’s website to learn more about them.
